make. believe. broken.
with regards to the psn failure and recent breachment in PS3s' security, i have no choice but to agree with the bastard that fapped to XBox being better than PS3. then again, some of the best and most eagerly anticipated games are exclusive only to PS3 so ha-ha. however, it's expensive to develop games for PS3 so developers might opt for alternatives if sony does not cover their losses fast enough. i'm angry at sony. i'm also angry at the bitching gamers for being angry at sony and demonstrating it in childishly vulgar ways. mostly though, i'm angry at the fucker hacker who screwed sony for screwing basement-dweller-gamers. so furiously angry to the point where i begrudgingly admit that i respect him a little and want to learn hacking so that i can trash other hackers, trash sony and trash whiny bitchy gamers all in one go. that's kinda like a lifelong goal so i'll need to remind myself that with a Post-It note.

i also want to play el-shaddai very, very badly. it's partly because of the ookami influence, partly because the the game itself is titled God, el=God (and spot something else if you can!) but that's besides the point and mainly, this guy:

mmmm, yeah. judge me however you will on my unorthodox ways of choosing games, but i think they've worked well so far. okay, that was a lie, but that still doesn't change the fact that i want el shaddai. gonna work my butt off this holiday to earn this game. and trico. too bad all the great games only come after during the half of the year that uni starts up again.

oh and gerard way looks hot with platinum blonde hair. so does sick boy from trainspotting, which is one the greatest movies of all times, btw. i think i have a thing for platinum blonde hair now. bleached, near-white translucent gorgeously fluffy, platinum blonde hair. this type of hair will not work on lucifel (guy above) because badass mofo' characters like him do not need the help of bleach to up their image. black is still best. and so is my PS2.

This is a double post
Heavy Rain, FUCK YEAH! This pretty much sums up my feelings for the game (at this point in time). Well, except for the last bit.

HEAVY RAIN LINK (because the video is too large and it's screwing up the page...at least it does for my teeny weeny notebook).

Coming up, Final Fantasy XIII review. I'll come up with it as soon as I've cleared the game! Am so close to the finish flag, I can practically taste the final boss!

Just a game
Will I ever make another proper blog entry with the same old style this place used to have 2 years ago? I rather miss the ambiguous posts that spill forth every thought of mine with reckless abandon, a time where every entry was an open secret, and the faceless blog-reader is simply just another unknown. My current blogging situation feels rather unsettling, just because I'm not altogether very used to toning down my opinions on certain matters.

Hmm hmm. Exams are starting in 6 days. Ahahaha. I wish it was a joke.

Irregardless, the main reason for my coming to Azarathea was news about Sony's latest gaming endeavor; the Next Generation Portable (NGP). Or in short, the PSP2. I was never as excited in hearing about this piece of news as when I heard about the PSP Go. Then again, I am rather prejudiced against the Go, that weird Playstation dark child.

Okay, so I've been trying to look for a proper image at Google, but the best I can manage is a gaming article from some site.
So, the specs. Not to be uprooted by Nintendo's 3DS- which will feature gaming in 3D; the PSP2 offers radical gaming experience on its own. It's got touch sensitive screen and a touch sensitive back panel (Som can finally whack away at my PSP screen and actually get something to move, rather than having me reminding her time and time again that the PSP-2000 does NOT have a touch-screen so-if-you-will-please-stop-molesting-my-PSP-tqvm), SIXAXIS controls, dual analog sticks and cameras. Whew. Just how big will this baby be?

I am very, very excited about this. It isn't going to be just another remake of the existing PSP, hence why Sony insisted on calling it next gen. In fact, the article I read mentioned the PSP2 to be as powerful as the PS3. That's a tall drink to order, and one Sony probably shouldn't be making just yet. There's that thing with the hackers, y'see. I'll need to update on Sony's contingency plans for that, and hopefully, it will not involve a PS4 anytime in the near future.

To quote Guillermo del Toro; 'Video games are the comic books of our time... It's a medium that gains no respect among the intelligentsia.' Indeed. Games offer a variety of rich and filling storylines that continuously feed imagination and dreams, and the consoles that convey these stories are still developing, continuously changing to engage the players in a more interactive style. With games, you aren't simply following the hero in the comic book- you become the hero. That there is the appeal, especially to younger children who want to have a taste of becoming the protector instead of the protected.

Agh, I better cut that thought short before this turns into an entry about psychology and gaming. It will be rather embarrassing if I get some things wrong, given my obvious lack of formal psychology training. Besides, one can never truly read too much into games. Because sometimes, that's all there is to it. Just a game, nothing more, nothing less.

Edit: Given the obsessive nature towards games that my recent posts seemingly have, the only thing I can say to that is... well... it's just another fad of mine? My poor books have been di-anak tirikan. I'm reading Mein Kampf bit by bit at the moment, and I'm beginning to see the psychopath behind the humble beginnings of the Fuhrer. Adolf Hitler is sharp-witted, nobody can deny that, but his obsessive nationalism is certainly creepy.

EditEdit: As for the SE Xperia Play, pffft, it's gonna get the same reaction as the Go. SE Walkman is alright, SE Cyber-shot is pretty convenient, but SE Play smells too much like the N-Gage. In other words, it stinks.

there was a song about peeing
My bladder can't hold more than 150ml of water, or so it seems.

Oh. Found this piece of info on bladder retention. That's good. It is always reassuring to know that one's bladder is normal, and not under mutiny or something weird like that.

And here is a teaser for Bioshock 2. It simply looks good. Especially the way Little Sister's dress moves in the wind, and they way she moved her neck every now and then. And she has short hair that looks totally cute on her. And when the sands rose to form buildings, it was just wow.

Amazon is selling these at 10GBP. I am so getting it.

Aishah left food in her tupperware. It's gonna spoil. Hmm what to do.

I know.

Go pee.

pool and buy
they're gonna screw up my root canal, i just know it

My brain has the capacity of mush after the 'step-down technique' lecture we had earlier. Sitting in a lecture for 3 hours and 30 minutes somehow stimulates the latent ADHD in me. I can't even concentrate on blogging properly now.

I was surfing the net aimlessly (like I always do) and I found this cool piece of gaming news that make me weep in shame and simultaneously curse my awful habits as a social outcast. But then again, said combo pack (if you would bother to follow the link) should already be released in Malaysia, but the guys at Sony Centre never breathed a word about it. Wtf, Sony? It's like the employees there want consumers to buy underwater products from S'pore. If we want to go technical about it, the guy at OU's Sony Centre told me that PS3s are cheaper in outside stores (wow genius, tell me something new), but he never pressed on about selling a genuine Sony-Malaysia-approved-PS3, so I quit on him and whatever half-hearted babble he was on.

Please-lah. Malaysians love their discounts and promotions, and if Sony Malaysia actually had something like that going on, and if they actually want to compete with the abang at Digital Mall, then they need to revamp the whole blah-ness of their atmosphere.

That ended up as a rant against Sony, somehow. Which is a pity, because I actually like Sony. Maybe I'm slightly prejudiced against the Centre at OU because it seemed like they have a specific target as to who their potential customers might be, and it just never struck them that a 20-year old girl would actually be interested in gaming consoles.

Which is a pity, because I definitely want Heavy Rain now. FF-XIII sucked. No offense to anyone who might have enjoyed it, but seriously, that game is a chore.

Lisa has AC: Brotherhood for Christmas. It kinda sucks that my family doesn't celebrate birthdays, and my friends won't get me something that expensive for Christmas; otherwise I could have asked for Heavy Rain. Still, it was funny shouting out to Jo about getting me a ACII (this is before I checked out Heavy Rain, mind you).

So, what did I do on the weekend that Jesus Christ was supposedly born on? Although really; it's not; and really, the celebration has minimal religious implications for reasons I shall not say.

Went ice-skating with Aliaa and Som, and boy, was it packed! By 3 o'clock, the rink looked like an over-packed aquarium with humans as fishes. We were supposed to go with a few other people as well, but they all canceled out at the very last minute so we're back to our original threesome joysome. Som was pissed off, but in my opinion, at least they told us that they weren't going. Being stood up by a friend whom you would consider to be one of your best buddies is much, much worse. The experience has probably immunized me.

The following day (Sunday) was a reunion with Shar and Jo. We pretty much terrorized OU. It was awesome. We're probably going to meet up again tomorrow at KLCC, so it's safe to say that the foreigners are going to have a pretty gay and giggly version of Malaysia after seeing the three of us work our stuff.

Oh yeah, baby!

it's found :B
Alhamdulillah! The sexy pink baby has been found!

To show just how much I've repented from the clutter-of-a-life I've been leading, I spent the entire evening cleaning up my room yesterday. It's all clean and nice now.

But I might have to change rooms later on because 2nd RC has this new policy of segregating the courses by floors. They're planning to implement it in January.

It sucks, really. While I admit that 85% of my social contact in 2nd RC already consists of dental students, it doesn't mean that I want to see dental students day-in and day-out. There are other interesting topics of conversation that does not relate to teeth. Or medicine.

Another point in fact is that a residential college is supposed to be like a second home to students. You don't change homes after just 6 months of living in them. Well, maybe you would, but even if you do, it definitely won't be at the same area again.

Either way, my PSP is back now. Yay!

lost day 2
As the days pile up without a sight of the pink PSP (or a better memory of it's last sighting in fact), I am beginning to lose hope.

It's probably at the bakery by Jusco in Mid Valley.

Or it's lying under the seat of a taxi.

Or it's in the hands of some dirty boy who handles it roughly and with absolutely no respect whatsoever.

Dear God.

I am so sorry that I got greedy with the PS3 (and am eternally grateful for it as well).

My PSP has helped me through some rough times. It's a readily available escape portal that is easy to use. Definitely a hand-held console made for the mobile gamer.

Please help guide my pink PSP back home.

It's probably (I hope) alone somewhere out there, inwardly cursing at its forgetful master as the battery inside it melts and begins to destroy the PSP from the inside out. Oh, poor boy.

Please come back to me.

There are still so many games that I haven't finished yet, let alone play.

lost

I can't find it.

The last time I saw it was on a day when Aliaa and I went out to watch Social Network at Mid Valley.

The water bottle that was inside my bag spilled, so I took it out and put it inside a pink plastic bag that I was holding.

At least, I think I did.

Could I have left it on the counter of the bakery instead?

No, that's silly.

But that was the last time I saw it.

My pink PSP.

Could it have dropped onto the floor of the taxi car?

....

Shit.

Forget GACC, I am much more worried about my PSP right now.

I don't want a new one.

I want my pink PSP.

Ho-ho-ho!
It's a Tuesday-holiday and here I am stuck in UM with a psychotic portable DVD player that refuses to properly let me watch Sarai-ya Goyou and proceed with the daydreams involving a cunning kidnapper and a timid ronin... which is definitely the least that can be done to alleviate boredom. Exercise? What exercise?

Anyway, all good holidays need plans! I've wasted enough time the last 3 days doing absolutely jackshit because the HDMI cable was taken away from the PS3 (yes, you read that right :D silence may be golden, but persistence is platinum!). Mak and Abah have found joy in BitTorrent, which means less gaming time for me because the new TV isn't going to be in until this Sunday. Woe.

But at least I've got my notebook back *huggles notebook*

Back to the PS3, because that's what I'm really excited about, actually. Got it last Wednesday night at Digital Mall, and Mak pretty much bullied the guy to sell two games to us (FFXIII- Shaddup, I'm a sucker for SE; and Ratchet&Clank:ACINT- because I practically grew up with it) at a whopping 65% discount. Yaaaay~! Well, I kinda pity the guy who had the bad luck to have us as customers, but only a little because the money saved will definitely be used to purchase some other game. Had the good luck to run into Aaron as well, and he has Assasin's Creed 3 and Arkham Asylum, two games I've always wanted to try out. It's good to pool resources with the PS3 on account of the games being very expensive. I'm gonna have to cut back on manga and lots of stuff so I can save enough to buy the games that I want.

I haven't been tinkering much with the PS3 features (reason stated above) but so far it looks great. Adequate Internet speed (didn't read the user's manual so don't know about full specs unfortunately... will definitely take a look at that later!) , automatic system updates, XMB interface, photos, music, videos etc. Basically, the interface is very much like the one for PSP, so it was all very familiar and easy for me to use. One complaint though is that the PS3 can't seem to recognize an external hard drive my dad jacked into it. Hmm. Definitely need to learn more about this console.

The hardware itself is AP from S'pore (hush hush business, but who cares. the Sony guy himself practically recommended the AP to me) so the warranty and PSN ID are S'porean which makes my PS3 a S'porean. Kinda gives me mixed feelings about this seeing as how Aliaa and Som dubbed me as Lee Wat Yew the S'porean. Initially, we were thinking of getting the modified version, but I didn't like the idea very much because the hacking program itself seemed unstable, and we couldn't use the Internet if we modified it for fear of automatic system updates. It all seemed a bit like raping the PS3, in fact. So I'm definitely glad that we got the non-modified version, even though it is version 3.40. The indomitable ice queen may have accepted the conqueror's hand, but it is he who yields and bows to her.

Games that I'm absolutely looking forward to play (and now actually have a chance to play!):

The Last Guardian

Silent Hill 8 (production title)

Final Fantasy XIII Versus

Arkham Asylum 2

And I'm out!

Crimson in a day

Came extremely close to actually owning one of these, but the PS3 is a tenacious survivor amidst a sea of piracy and illegal modifications, so much so that dad is suggesting 360 instead, but we cry out, 'The audacity!' because it is precisely this aloof, impenetrable, unbreakable nature that made it so desirable. It is like admiring a snow white queen, chaste, commanding, powerful, and no matter how much a conqueror covets her as he broods over the strategy board, there would be no greater pain for him other than for her to yield defeat.

A love story for a PS3? Haha, yes, I am strange that way.

kingdom come, kingdom of hearts
First and foremost, I'm a humble servant to the gaming world. I'm mostly a casual player, although in recent years my gaming activities have been severely limited thanks to dorm life that prohibits the... items necessary for me to dive headfirst into this guilty pleasure. I'm a reader, yes, I do a little writing, doodle here and there, watch anime, read manga, geek here geek there- but the greatest vice that occupies my every thought and pushes away the necessary TO-DO list (that'd be pharmaco conass this time around) like a scrap of garbage has got to be gaming.

And what better game to immerse myself than Kingdom Hearts? It has made me a zombie in front of the TV, continuously swearing and laughing and making the loudest of noises ever since the first installment came out. And now, it's 2010 and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is a project ticked Done With Delight.

Kudos to Disney and Square Enix for the awesome gaming experience; from the engaging gameplay, fantastic orchestral performance, gorgeous CGs and right down to the ridiculous dialogue. It might have been less sappy when I was 13 and innocent to satire and parodies, but now even the simplest of friendly gestures get me cracked up.

Threesome, anyone?

Ahem. Well. Needless to say, I've never looked at Disney characters the same way ever again. It's important to note that Kingdom Hearts has managed to teach me a couple of things along the way. For example, it's obvious that friends are far more important than your family, so much so that even when your world is consumed by darkness and everybody disappears to various strange lands-- your priority should be to look for your friends. Not your mum who called you down for dinner, not the dad who God-knows-what-he's-doing, but your friends. Of course, it doesn't hurt to reminisce about them every now and then.

Next, contradictory to popular belief, long monologues do not bore people half to death. In fact, villains are encouraged to mutter about their plan in vague details whereas it's a must for heroes to constantly reassure themselves that their friends are always there for them.

Oh and, never ever trust silver-haired men.

Fuck you Ansem (faggot), fuck you Riku (he stole my Keyblade), fuck you Xehanort (for making KH bloody confusing), and last but not least, FUCK YOU Sephiroth (fucking DIE already!)

Wow, I think I've strayed. Or, as I prefer to put it, simply taken an obscenely long detour. Before I end this fangirl post of mine, and to avoid any confusion that may rise from the seemingly contradictory nature of this entry, I would like to reassure any other phemphems out there that yes I do like Kingdom Hearts. I just like to take jab and make fun of it as well. So relax, chill out, grab the controller, 'coz the game is on.

Dark Riku: Sora. Come to me. Lets have babies.

Sora: Ooooh yeah, I knew you were gonna come around and confess to me eventually.
Riku: You smug bastard.

(Snapshot of their lovemaking. Square Enix censored the raunchy cutscene and tweaked Dark Riku to look like Stitch)

And the product?

Birth By Sleep
Y'gotta love Disney villains

It's Ramadhan! The Pharmacology, MMB-heck, all of the notes are piling up to the point of teetering. Meanwhile, I've just rediscovered my love for gaming. It's all thanks to Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. It's just an English patch of the Jap version so there are gaping holes in the storyline for me but who cares, the game play has been entertaining. Square Enix brought back the joy of exploring from KH by providing larger areas complete with hidden nooks. The script (from what I can catch with my uber pseduo-Jap skills) leaves much to be desired, but I'm hoping it won't be as corny as KH2 was. Or KH Chain of Memories, for that matter. Hopefully the English the version will fare much better.

The graphics live up to KH standards as well, despite being fitted for the PSP console. Sound systems are alright. I haven't checked the composer yet, but I do love Neverland's OST. Wish they could have done better for Radiant Garden (because I'm a dork for Hollow Bastion OST). I did check the voice actors for the upcoming English release though. Surprise, surprise, Jesse McCartney returns. Must have Maleficent turn him into one of the Unbirths. Haha, I kid. He'll probably do a better job than the last time. If they bring Haley Joel Osment in for Vanitas (sp?), I seriously hope the dude will stay sober/not high for the recording sessions.

Needless to say, BBS has definitely revived the KH series. Pretty awesome.

Oh, oh, and a bit of a postscript. I want to slap Madame silly, just so that she can shut her bitch hole for five seconds. Your doughnut got creamed, we get it. So? Just let the issue settle on its own; and it will because Malaysians are not dumb and neither are the Muslims thank-you-very-much.

And The Curtain Falls
The holidays are ending and it won't be long before UM Dental students of '09 are subjected to torture and fear under the scrutiny of Dr Nora. However, every cloud has it's silver lining, and an advancement to the 2nd year proves that we are getting nearer to the profession we have always dreamed of. It won't be long before the dummies are replaced with living human beings full of complaint. There's always the ominous hint of getting sued for malpractice, but we're not a pessimistic bunch so let's stick to the goal of, 'We'll do great saving the world, one tooth at a time!'

Anyway, stuff not entirely productive has happened this holidays. There's Surabaya; a mess of a city that's delightfully enchanting with its bountiful paddy fields, the stress of anticipating for the Surabaya trip, the havoc of preparing for the last-minute Surabaya trip... ah, good times.

I tried my hand at drawing again, as well. It's proved to be a most frustrating account. Drawing anime faces tilted to an angle looking pretty and pointless has lost its novelty, and it seems that every stroke I do is wrong, wrong, wrong. I don't really care that the anatomy is wrong, or such crazy hairstyles would require 2 and 1/2 cans of hairspray for it to work in real life, I just want the satisfaction of feeling pleased with my work.

Other than that, I'm gaming again as well. SMT's Persona, to be exact. It's just turn-based RPG so it's hardly a feat worth bragging. Unless I manage to defeat the Enigmatic Knight on KH2 FM then that would be awesome! Too bad I don't read Japanese and I'm too lazy to play FM, ahahaha! Anyway, Persona 4 is better than Persona 3 in every aspect. The battle sequences are faster, with higher degrees of freedom in control. It makes the game so much more fun to play. Oh, oh, while we're still on the the gaming topic, I'd like to add that Yukari is a dick.

Ta-ta for now!

Random Thought
Well yes, this is really not my main shiz, but it is a convenient place to have. Perhaps I shall come around and renovate it one of these days and make it seem more homely.

On another note, why do I talk like this when I blog? I certainly don't sound so much like so in real life. Generally that is. It's so... obnoxious. And pseudo-Brit. Hahahaha! Must be Diane Setterfield rubbing off her influence on me.

Oh, and I have just recently finished reading Orhan Pamuk's Snow as well. Well, okay, I flash-read a lot of the ending because after the Hotel Asia (or was it Asya?) and Demirkol's entrance, I got extremely bored of it. Yes, yes, Europe is the symbol of modernism and religion is but a backward misconception of saviour that the poor have. However, I liked how the book managed to upset me with its ideas on religion, some which I bitterly resign myself to agree with. But at the end of the say, I still want to ask Sunay Zaim, 'Okay, your opinion on freedom and liberty is yours to keep, but tell me, do you believe in life after death, in the immortal soul, in the tally of right and wrong?' I'll be content with whatever answer he gives, as long as it's a clear yes/no.

Aaah, my hands itch for the controller. KH: Birth By Sleep is out, by the way, and I can barely wait with anticipation for the English release. I just hope Jesse McCartney doesn't butcher Ven as much as he destroyed Roxas. And Haley Joel Osment, please stay sober during the recording sessions if you are going to voice act for BBS. I mean, I fell in love with Sora because of you, damnit!

Another, another random note. Mr UIA sms-ed me again. Argh! Enough!!!
