it's a good day

Today is a great day for bawling.

Watched Harry Potter DH: Part 2. The movie was alright overall, couldn't help but continuously draw comparisons between the book and the movie, leaving me feeling unsatisfied. But still, there were plenty of tear-jerker moments. There were quite a few people crying out loud in the theatre, and the guy next to me wiped his glasses a few times. Definitely trying to keep his macho. I was going to cry at the Weasley scene, but the cinema was too cold and I was spending too much energy just shivering and trying to keep warm. Hahaha...yeah. Deathly Hallows is definitely one of the better Harry Potter films. Anybody wanting a real good story should still read the book instead of the films though.

Snape. Just ;___; His conversation with Dumbledore about Lily was ace. Beautifully written, and wonderfully executed. Not to mention Alan Rickman wears that black dress so well.

Then I read a USUK doujin; From the New World With Love. Good God. If there is ever an award for BL doujin, yumeuta definitely takes the cake! Historical references galore, detailed dialogue and heart-wrenching scenes! It's just, it's just ;______; It fits in with everything so well! ....okay, that was senseless fan ranting, and I'll probably forget about this wishy washy emotion soon but there's no time like the present, I say, and this doujin is awesome!

Cried lots, released lots of endorphine! Today is a good day!

Can't wait for Ace. WAIT. Don't want to read Ace. Don't want to read Ace.

catching up
Shut up dashboard, I know that I have a tonne of drafts piling up, just leave me be in my writer's block. I'll get around to them eventually. Maybe.

Anyway, lots of exciting things happened this past week, but there is such a huge shitload of lecture notes to be read that I feel like I can really use Hermione's Time Turner right about now. And I don't care about the whole paradox-time-continuum crap, I wish I could meet my 18 year old self who was innocently filling in the university application and tell her (myself), 'DO SOMETHING THAT YOU LIKE AND NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU'RE GOOD AT!' complete with a >8( emoticon.

I wonder if it would have made any difference.

Back to those exciting things I mentioned earlier. Hazel stayed over during the weekend, and we watched Black Swan. I had my doubts about the movie, but they were all blown away the very second the movie started. Seriously, it was good. And for all the awkward and awful physically intimate scenes (to which I thank the M'sian cinema for kindly editing out the more raunchier parts), I have to say, they were integral to the storyline. The movie couldn't be what it was without them. It was perfect in picturing the main character's descent into a dark adulthood, the defilement of innocence and the thrill of discovering a world far away from the safety bubble. For the guys out there, I have an inkling that the lesbo scenes were what made Black Swan so popular among them. Um, hullo? What about the plot, the sfx, the script, the whole cinematography in general? If porn is all it takes to win the Oscars, then any Paris Hilton wannabe could have sent in their sex video and make an acceptance speech consisting nothing but heavy breathing and low moans. Please-lah.

Oh, and Hazel and I stuffed our faces silly with Italiannies. Pasta craving, accomplished!! They also serve a mean piece of NY strawberry cheesecake. Any cheese cake lovers (or strawberry lovers) out there should definitely give this slice of heaven a try.

Last but not least on the agenda is the trip to the clinics. Yes, we DED0900XX are finally entering our clinical sessions. Just had the obligatory demo by the nurses and technicians regarding handwashing, disinfectant, dental chair, handpieces, and PPE. It was fun. And somewhat unnerving because it hasn't actually dawned on me just yet that I'm a dental student who is going to operate on actual real life human beings. Som's total reluctance and apathy regarding the whole (as she would put it) ordeal probably played a part in it. Come on, we need some enthusiasm, people! Or maybe you guys can continue being the wet towel if that makes you happy but please don't call me a nerd or a freak if I admit to myself that yes, I am actually rather excited at the prospect of looking inside a person's mouth. Yikes, did I just say that? Mmmm oh well. The nurse in charge of PPE was so cute though. I think it's the same one that taught us how to use process the radiographs in optech lab but I can't be sure.

All that said, I just need to leave a reminder that I shall probably not blog here as much. It's getting too tiresome, and the writer's block feels like an insurmountable wall and I lack the energy to scale it over. Either way, check out my tumblr which shall be filled with all kinds of random stuff that makes me click reblog or post or crap like that. Shhhyeah this was a long post.

On that note, here's a picture from the current manga I'm fapping over like mad; A Cruel God Reigns by Hagio Moto. I simply adore her colour works. Kinda looks like AntiChrist IMO. And considering the title of the manga, I wonder? But shall not read too much into it, and shall just let the picture speak for itself. It is beautiful.

exams are ovaaaaaah
Socks might be able to afford playing possum,
but the things she catch, unfortunately, cannot.

Nadia : Sakinah, help me. Socks brought in a rat.

Me : Ew.

Nadia: Inside the house.

Me : Ew.

Nadia : And it's alive.

*sound of furniture being thrown frantically aside to form a barrier of sorts against the bubonic plague carrier*

Damnit Socks, we appreciate your efforts in letting us join in the game, but frankly speaking, our predator-compass has been missing a magnet for a long time. We homo sapiens, particularly the daughters of Eve in the house of Abdul Halim are spectacular fail at catching rats single-handedly like the mighty felinus feline that you are. In short, don't do that again. Ever.

Okay, on to other news.

Exams are ovaaaaaaah~! And I went through it completely emotionless. Which is worrying. Bitching about the exams is one thing, but being apathetic towards it is just... wrong. Attitude is important in taking the next step. I need to have better control of myself.

Oh, right, things that happened. Went to the movies with Aliaa and Som to watch HP7 yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie did not suck half bad. Emma Watson definitely took the limelight for this movie. Yet it peeves me off to see the three main characters not acting very, um, best-pal kind of thing together. Their interaction together seemed forced, awkward at best, which is surprising considering the time they must have spent together filming the series. The tension is probably mainly because of the plot of the 7th movie in itself, but I always get this feeling whenever I watch any of the movies. It's just odd. Or maybe it's a British personal privacy thing.

And finally, before I leave, KHR OST is just epic. I'll consider driving more often if I have the OST playing full blast in the car. Or it might send me off on another daydream. That's not very good. I just mentioned that I need to have better control! (am listening to Ryohei's track and it's just, ugh, ugh ;___; I WANT SO BAD!)

Cold night

It's Zuko, bitch *cue song*

Pardon my camera for the poor resolution, but what's etched on that excess PoP rolled into the shape of kuih raya is 'AANG' and below it, 'ZUKO'. It's pretty much the result of boredom and lingering affection for Avatar: The Last Airbender. Puan Aida would kill me if she finds out I use her precious diamond bur to satisfy the fangirl in me.

It's been a bloody hectic week for both Hazel and I, so it was a huge relief to be able to relax and be our awesomely embarrassing geeky selves in public- and what better place than a tourist hot spot like KLCC? And this time, the highlight of the outing was M. Night Shyamalan's latest movie, 'The Last Airbender', which is a movie adaptation of Nickelodeon's own famous cartoon series.

When I first heard of the movie plans, I must have cursed out loud. Hollywood is running low on ideas, and they were going to sacrifice another piece of awesome animation/comic. Luckily, there was a mention of M. Night Shyamalan planning to direct, and I loved his movies (...except for The Happening) so there was still hope for the movie adaptation. The trailer came out attached to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen aaaand I knew the movie was going to suck. Big time.

But still, I held on to Shyamalan.

So we watched the movie. It still sucked, but I enjoyed it; even if I was only watching the cartoon all over again in my head instead of the actual movie. If I were to pay actual mind to the poor scriptwriting, poor acting, poor timing, poor jokes, poor directing in general; there's a high chance I would go emo and burn my Shyamalan collection. Yes, even the original Sixth Sense Auntie Ila got for us from US (hahha, geddit, geddit?)

I wouldn't mind going to watch the movie again. Just so I can... uh...donate my money to Shyamalan so that he can hire DiMartino and Konietzko to stand by him throughout the production of the movie and tell him, 'Babe, you've got it all wrong And tell Dev Patel to close his mouth. Zuko is a prince damnit, not a gaping ingit.'

Child's Play

Remember this?

Well, it's now THIS

Went to watch it with my sisters at Cineleisure, and I have to say, Disney does not disappoint. It's been 11 years since I watched the first movie and, boy, that changes the perspective of this movie for me.

Nevertheless, the jokes were witty and targeted to both young and old, so it's enjoyable for all. It's remarkably different from it's predecessors as well in the sense that it's darker, and closer to real life. Growing up has never been easy, whilst letting go is doubly so.

:(

I could go on emo rant for hours, but I got something else from Cineleisure that's worth mentioning!

It's an official FIFA 2010 phone strap/card holder! Ahaha, despite having lost, the spirit of the Three Lions shall persevere! Although I mostly bought it out of Hetalia-ness (Ahahah, fucking lame). If I were to buy something out of football, I'd definitely have spent my money on Germany. Sorry Iggy, but I always bet for the better team. Better luck next... oh, whenever you guys start playing as a team instead of a group of 11 star-studded players.

And finally, check out Nephew, this Danish rock band that's kick-ass awesome! I'm addicted to the song, "007 Is Also Gonna Die". Part of the lyrics went, "What if God/Won't bless the whore". To which I thought, "Wow, now she's really fucked up."

The Old is Not The Young, But The Experienced
Glamour, Glory, Gold.

That and more. Wondrous shezzam yo.

I've just realized I have nothing to blog about other than the story of some award ceremony involving red carpets, big shot stars (that consequently impend other smaller wannabe local self-acclaimed artists) and those cutesy little golden statuettes. It's called The Academy Awards, or more endearingly referred to as the Oscars.

Finally finished reading No Country For Old Men just recently. Was quite surprised when found out that one of Cormac McCarthy's books had been adapted into a movie. Was not quite surprised when found that it was a serious contender for the Oscar's best picture award. The book in itself is a gourmet of thought spiced up by action and suspense. In the end, it cements its' standing as more than just a Western shoot-out. It kinda lost me towards the conclusion however. I just didn't quite get it.

But try The Road, from the same author. It's haunting, and will most probably give you nightmares the same way it gave me many restless nights. Now that I think about it, I was probably propelled to finish the book just so I can sleep easy again. It's just that psychologically haunting.
